Item Description

Equip Series 1 Series 1 are roughly made and very plain, possible the oldest Equip spanner.

Type 1.1

Very plain spanner with the Equip motif in the centre of the shaft the only marking, and the left jaw the larger size, pointing down.

Type 1.2a. GMH. Equip motif in the centre of the shaft, with GMH stamped on the rear side of the right jaw ; left jaw the smaller size, pointing down

Type 1.2b. GMH. Equip motif in the centre of the shaft, with GMH stamped on the rear side of the left jaw ; left jaw the larger size, pointing down

Type 1.3a . GMH. Equip motif in the centre of the shaft, with GMH moulded on the front of the shaft, to the left of motif; left jaw the larger size, pointing down; reverse plain.

Type 1.3b. GMH. Equip motif in the centre of the shaft, with GMH moulded on the front of the shaft, to the left of motif; left jaw the smaller size, pointing down ; reverse plain.

Type 1.3d . GMH. Equip motif in the centre of the shaft, with GMH moulded on the front of the shaft, to the right of motif; left jaw the larger size, pointing up ; reverse plain.

Type 1.3f.GMH. Equip motif in the centre of the shaft, with GMH moulded on the front of the shaft, to the right of motif; right jaw the larger size, pointing up ; reverse plain

Type 1.3g.GMH. Equip motif in the centre of the shaft, with GMH moulded on the front of the shaft, to the right of motif, also GMH on right jaw; right jaw the smaller size, pointing down; reverse plain.

Note: 3f & 3g have large raised circular forging marks towards each end.

Equip Series 2 Series 2 are heavy but better made spanners than series 1 and have the sizes marked on the spanners

Type 2.1. Equip motif in the centre of the shaft, with the jaw sizes either side on the front of the shaft, right jaw the larger size, pointing up ; reverse plain

Type 2.2 . S wrench . Equip motif in the centre of the shaft, with the jaw sizes (W) either side on the front of the shaft; right jaw the larger size, pointing up ; reverse plain; very thick wrench.

Type 2.3. Equip motif in the centre of the shaft, with the jaw sizes either side on the front of the shaft (writing thinner than in 2.1 & 2.2); right jaw the larger size, pointing up ; reverse plain; very thick wrench.

 

Type 2.4a . Equip motif in the centre of the shaft, with the jaw sizes (AF) either side on the front of the shaft; left jaw the larger size, pointing up ; reverse with S.A.E. BOLT SIZE in the middle of shaft and the jaw sizes (of the bolt) either side. These spanners were possibly made by Gregory Steel Products, as some of these spanners were collected from the factory by a former worker (WA pers. Com.)

Type 2.4b. Equip motif in the centre of the shaft, with the jaw sizes (AF) either side on the front of the shaft; left jaw the larger size, pointing up ; reverse with S.A.E. BOLT SIZE in the middle of shaft and the jaw sizes (of the bolt) either side. These spanners were possibly made by Gregory Steel Products, as some of these spanners were collected from the factory by a former worker (WA pers. Com.)

Note 1: These two spanners only vary in the size of the script for Bolt Size

Note 2: Both spanners have jaw sizes in AF on the front, and SAE on the back.

Type 2.5 GMH. Equip motif in the centre of the shaft, with the jaw sizes either side on the front of the shaft; left jaw the larger size, pointing up ; reverse, GMH motif in the centre of the shaft.

   

 

Equip Series 3 Series 3 have longer jaws and have the sizes marked on the front or reverse sides.

Type 3.1. Equip motif in the centre of the shaft, with the jaw sizes on either side (W) on the front of the shaft; left jaw the larger size, pointing down ; reverse, not marked

Type 3.2 . S wrench. Equip motif in the centre of the shaft, with the jaw sizes on either side (W) on the front of the shaft; left jaw the larger size, pointing down ; reverse, not marked.

Type 3.3. GMH. Equip motif on the left of the shaft and the GMH motif on the right; left jaw the larger size, pointing down ; reverse, with the jaw sizes (SAE) either side on the rear shaft.

Type 3.4

GMH. Equip motif slightly to the left of centre on the shaft and GMH motif on the right of the shaft, left jaw the larger size, pointing down ; reverse, jaw sizes either side (SAE) on the rear of the shaft.

Type 3.5 . GMH. Equip motif slightly to the left of centre on the shaft and GMH motif on the right of the shaft, left jaw the larger size, pointing down ; reverse, jaw sizes either side (not marked) on the rear of the shaft.

 

Type 3.6

Single O/E. Equip motif in the centre of the shaft, with the jaw sizes 1/2W on the left front of the shaft; jaw, pointing down; reverse, not marked
